Whitsundays Sailing

Hail to the Sea!

sunny 34 °C

Heeeeeey guys,

Well Here i am in some random internet cafe, well, not so random, Jess and I are about to book a tour with one of Zev's buddys. He is giving us a good deal on a large, i mean large ship with a bunch of sailing and scuba or snorkelling. Sounds like fun... but it means we have to wait around till saturday to take the trip. Meh.. I don't mind.

The last week has been really good.. the more north I get, the hotter it is.. it's almost at the point where i need to buy a fan for our little van. Waking up at 7am... it's the best. BUt it;s alright, lots of things happen in the morning, that is something that I am not used too.

Last week we did Frasier Island, the world's biggest sand Island. Jess and I rented a Toyota Landcruiser with 5 other people and drove around the island. The truck was pretty big, but fun to drive. I find it kind of weird that they let 7 mid-twenty people take their vehicles in the sand. Pure 4x4 and ooogles of sand. There was some wicked Freshwater lakes in the middle of the island. We couldn't swim in the ocean because of sharks and box jelly fish. So the lakes and streams were heaven beacuse of the heat. So we did for 3 days, 2 nights, roughed it out in a tent, on the beach. We have some incredible pics to show you guys when we get back. Huge Spiders and real DINGOS!!!! DINGOS!!! yes i said it. "A Dingo Ate my baby", actually is a real story down here and it happened on frasier island. Jess and I thought it was pure seinfeld... but i guess not.

Bundaberg - We got to Bundaberg around 2pm.. just enough time to catch the rum distellery tour. Good times, they have a wicked Molasses storage place that smells great. We each got 2 drinks for free... yummy rum... Bundaberg or "Bundy" rum is the rum they drink down here... not bad stuff.. tastes like a sweet dark rum...

One thing they do enjoying doing is putting Coke.. or Sodas into canned drinks for you, so you don't have to buy mix... wonderful Ideal... yesterday i came across some CC... yes Canadian Club, and Coke... together mixed.. (Sunny you would love it.. i took some pictures of the can.. then me drinking it.. then me finishing it.... I'll send em to you nex time i get on a computer). So... we stayed beside a hostel that night.. and woke up and drove into Gladstone, got free internet at the library and then drove to Rockhampton.

Rockhampton - Well.. for some reason... on saturdays, everyone shuts their store down... like the apocalypse... and keep it closed on sundays also... kind of weird..... So... we did nothing that night, WHen we were sleeping, though... a bunch of hooligan kids started a fight right outside of our van... luckily our van has semi-tinted windows.... but it was funny... the police came.. then an ambulance... all while Jess and I were huddled in our van, sheltered from the bright lights.

AFter that time, we travelled up the coast to a place called the town of 1770, where Captain Cook arrived there and named it.... the town was SUPER LAME... 1 restaurant and stuff.. so jess and I decided to leave.. not worth it. We then drove to MacKay... we're we stayed on the side of the road for 2 nights, small little town. It's not until i got here (Arlie Beach), when i was reading the newspaper, and found out the police just busted up a prostitution ring in that town. I would have never known. So ....

Now we are going to stay in this town, might do a little trip somewherre.. then go sailing.. should be a really good time.

Till then..

AG
